The sculpture was dedicated on Labor Day in 1958 as a part of Minnesota's centennial celebration. It is a nearly identical, but simpler, composition than the original Olson Memorial Statue on T.H. 55 in Minneapolis, made by Carlo Brioschi in 1940.
- Amerigo J. Brioschi (1908-1977),
sculptor in the Brioschi-Minuti Company (Brioschi Studio), founded by his father Carlo Brioschi, who he in 1941 succeeded.
- Carlo Brioschi (1879-1941),
Italian-American sculptor, lived since 1909 in St. Paul, Minn., where he founded the Brioschi-Minuti Company, an architectural sculpture and ornamental plaster company. Succeeded by his son Amerigo Brioschi
