Nautical elements (rope, anchor and chain) are at his feet. He stands atop a rectangular base decorated with incised sailing ship and flanked by two eagles on world globes, all part of a larger exedra setting.
this plaque is placed to commemorate the
500th anniversary of the voyages of
christopher columbus. his dedication and
unyielding commitment initiated the merging
of the cultures of the old and the new
worlds; thereby changing forever the course
and history of mankind.

- Carlo Brioschi (1879-1941),
Italian-American sculptor, lived since 1909 in St. Paul, Minn., where he founded the Brioschi-Minuti Company, an architectural sculpture and ornamental plaster company. Succeeded by his son Amerigo Brioschi
