House, built 1895 by the architect A.F. Meysner - А.Ф. Мейснер. Since the 1920s the building was known as the 5th House of Soviets - 5-й Дом Советов (btw, from 1917-1990 the name of the street was ulitsa Granovskogo - улица Грановского). Many famous government and party leaders and army officers of the Soviet Union lived there. The house has 18 commemorative plaques, but only 7 of them with a portrait (only these 7 plaques are illustrated - linked, blue text - the other plaques are only mentioned here (but photos were made):

  1. Иван Степанович Конев - Ivan Stepanovich Konev (1897-1973), military commander.
  2. Владимир Павлович Бармин - Vladimir Pavlovich Barmin (1909-1993), scientist
  3. Дмитрий Захарович Мануильский - Dmitriy Zakharovich Manuil'skiy (1883-1959), important Bolshevik.
  4. Алексей Александрович Кузнецов - Aleksey Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov (1905-1950), statesman
  5. Андрей Андреевич Андреев - Andrey Andreyevich Andreyev (1895-1971), Soviet politician
  6. Владимир Михайлович Мясищев - Vladimir Mikhaylovich Myasishchev (1902-1978), aircraft designer (the plaque shows an airplane)
  7. Семен Константинович Тимошенко - Semen Konstantinovich Timoshenko (1895-1970), military commander
  8. Семён Михаилович Будённый - Semën Mikhaylovich Budënnyy (1883-1973), military leader and statesman
  9. Николай Алексеевич Вознесенский - Nikolay Alekseyevich Voznesenskiy (1903-1950), economic planner
  10. Емельян Михайлович Ярославский - Emelyan Mikhaylovich Yaroslavskiy (1878-1943), revolutionary, statesman
  11. Алексей Николаевич Косыгин - Aleksey Nikolayevich Kosygin (1904-1980), politician

  16. Василий Иванович Чуйков - Vasiliy Ivanovich Chuykov (1900-1982), lieutenant general in the Red Army
  17. Климент Ефремович Ворошилов - Kliment Yeffemovich Voroshilov (1881-1969), statesman
  18. Вячеслав Александрович Малышев - Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Malyshev (1902-1957), statesman
Nikita Khrushchëv - Н. С. Хрущёв - lived also in this house, but has no plaque.
