Description

Bronze sculpture of Chaykovskiy sitting in an armchair in front of a music stand with a sheet of music open before him. His right hand holds a pencil, ready to write down a musical phrase, while his left hand taps the beat. The statue is on a granite pedestal, which forms the center of a marble bench with a copper sheet shaped like a music staff, which bears excerpts of musical phrases from the composer's key music pieces (the opening lines from opera Eugene Onegin, ballet Swan Lake, Symphony No. 6 "Pathetique," Quartet No. 1, Violin Concerto, and a line from song Den li tsarit). The lines are separated by elaborate monograms with Chaykovskiy's initials and his dates of birth and death. The plaque is finished with bronze harps decorated with drapes.
