House on the Embankment - Дом на набережной
The House on the Embankment is a block-wide apartment house. It was completed in 1931 as the Government Building, a residence of Soviet elite. It was designed by Boris Mikhaylovich Iofan - Борис Михайлович Иофан. The building became famouse by the novel of Yuriy Trifonov, who lived here from 1931-1939 (see no. 26).
The building has 29 commemorative plaques. On this website are only the 19 plaques with portraits (linked, blue text), the other plaques are only mentioned here (but photos were made).
