Description

Fountain with a marble statue of Neptune (missing his trident), standing on a shell supported on the tails of four dolphins whose heads are in the lake. This central statue is surrounded by four kneeling tritons, blowing into a whelk, two of them holding the coat of arms of Luís de Meneses, 3rd Count of Ericeira, and two a shield with a monogram IFL.

The fountain was commissioned in 1677 for the Anunciada Palace in Lisbon, by the 3rd Count of Ericeira, and is since 1945 in the gardens of Queluz.
