Description

A sculptural group of three intertwined figures, representing the Abduction of Proserpina (Persephone). Pluto, bearded and crowned, carries Proserpina on his back. On the ground, another female figure (perhaps Demeter or the Naiad nymph Cyane) makes a desperate attempt to prevent the goddess from being abducted.
