Description

Stone sculpture group in a square pont depicting the Arabic people who lived in Xelb during the time of Al Mouhatamid Ibn Abbad, an eleventh-century governor of Xelb, by depicting scenes of their daily life.

The seven figures are grouped into three distinct groups: three women standing side by side, two men carrying a kind of padiola and two others sitting. Five of them perform quidian tasks of transporting implements associated with the work of the land; the two seated figures, one of whom could be Al Mouhatamid Ibn Abbad (who was also a poet and is considered to be among the best of the Andalusian poets), are observing the other figures.
