Description

Place name sign with a large steel seagull with a wingspan of over 30 meters.

Annotation

The monument is built to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the town. The reason why a seagull is chosen as a symbol is not known, Daugavpils is not a maritime city - the nearest sea is about 200 km away.

Sculptor

A graphic designer of the Dairy Plant - Felster, Daugavpils. Unfortunately, no further information about the 'father' of the Seagull could be found, except that it is known that even at that time he was an old man (Ghosttown memories).
