Annotation
'Orphan' was created in 1998 and won the first place in the competition for a monument for the victims of communist terror. The sculptor himself was as a 2-year old deported to Siberia. Despite its first place, the monument by Paula Jaunzema was exectuted (not seen by us). Ten years later, Karlovs' creation was unveiled opposite the presidents's palace.
The architect of the monument is Kārlis Alksnis.
