Description

Bronze sculpture showing a music band - an accordeon player, man with horn, a man with drum and a man with a tuba - with sheep, the sculpture also includes two children under an umbrella.

Inscription(s)

Hämmelsmarsch
cortège folklorique forme le jour de kermesse

Annotation

Old Luxembourgian tradition. The local music club runs through the community to invite to a fair. They play the "Hämmelsmarsch" by Michel Lentz. Previously they took sheep with them (sheep is Hammel in Luxemburgian, hence the name).
The accordeon player is a self portrait of the sculptor Wil Lofy.
