Description

Inside the Vilnius cathedral are quite a number of statues, busts and plaques. We photographed only a few of them.

(Ožkabaliai 1851 - Wilno [Vilnius] 1927), physician, activist and proponent of Lithuania's National Revival and founder of the first Lithuanian language newspaper Aušra (Wikipedia).

Jurgis Matulaitis-Matulevičius (Polish: Jerzy Matulewicz) (Lūginė, near Marijampolė, 1871 - Kaunas 1927), Bishop of Vilnius from 1918 to 1925 and founder of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On 28 June 1987, Pope John Paul II beatified him as the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis-Matulewicz.
