Description

Bronze sculpture of a young warrior with a flag leading a horse, trampling the papal emblems.

It was soon considered as an offense to the church: "The symbolism is easy: the horse is the crowd, thirsty for freedom when it is about to break the secular chains and rebel against the theocratic government. The young man is the Piedmontese army that comes to liberation in the aid of the oppressed, breaks its ties, treading the abhorred emblem of the golden keys."
