Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

Bronze bust. The first non-British public sculpture dedicated to the poet, whose corpse was found nearby the Viareggio beach about ten days after he had drowned off the coast of Livorno while sailing back to Lerici.

The bust was removed to be molten in 1943, it was however saved by Veturio Paolini from Nazi destruction during the Second World War.
