Description

Marble statue of giant, standing on two dolphins. It is an unfinished statue representing Andrea Doria in the likeness of Neptune, performed by the Florentine sculptor Baccio Bandinelli. The abandoned statue at the level of 'sketch' was used in 1563 by Alberico I Cybo-Malaspina, marquis of Carrara, to embellish the Cathedral Square.
