Description

Marble statue by Giambologna above the arch leading to the river Arno. On the base is the abbreviation C.M.M.D.E. (Cosimo Medici Magnus Dux Etruriae = Cosimo de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany). The statue is flanked by lying personifications of Equità (Equity) and and Rigore (Strictness), sculpted by Danti in 1566.
