Angelo Finali
1761-63 |
The small church of Christ was erected to preserve a fresco of the crucifix, oil painted on plaster by an anonymous artist in Reggio during the plague of 1630-1631. The building began in 1761, designed by Giovan Battista Cattani, known as Cavallari. The church was opened to worship in 1763 and completed at the end of the century. On top of the façade are three marble statues of the Veronese Angelo Finali representing the three theological virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.
