Saints at St John the Baptist Church

Description

The church was built in 1838 (dedicated 29 June 1842) en enlarged with an apse in 1893 and two porches in 1911. There are two statues in niches in the front facade, St. John the Baptist and, very probably, St. Patrick.

St. John te Baptist (c. 6 BC- c. 36 AD), itinerant preacher and a major religious figure who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River. He baptized Jesus at "Bethany beyond the Jordan." (Wikipedia).
St. Patrick (Modern Irish: Pádraig) 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the 'Apostle of Ireland', he is the primary patron saint of the island.
