Description

Series of niches in a new wall face of the Blessington Street Basin. Into these niches are a series of bronze sculptures insertes. These bronzes suggest animal or fish-like organisms, vegetation and amoebic life which and intend to reflect the Basin's reputation as a refuge for nature.
For the design of the animals the sculptor began a project with Fifth Class boys at St. Mary's School. The boys, looking at all kinds of exotic aquatic life, produced a huge amount of art work. With their drawings and clay models, McQuinn he created the 17 bronze sculptures.

We found 13 niches, with originally 15 sculptures, two of these are missing.
