Description

Tympanum above the College Green entrance of the former Hibernian bank. The central figure in the tympanum is Hibernia, represented as a seated female figure, leaning on a harp with her left arm. Next to her sits the wolf hound and in the background is a Round Tower (of Timahoe?). The effigy is surrounded by a horn of plenty, a sheaf of wheat and shamrock.
Above the effigy is the text hibernian joint stock co. with a crown above it. In the top edges it reads thos breen secry. this building begun anno 1864 was completed anno 1875. c c vernor pa?b dar.
