It was unveiled by President Michael D. Higgins, in the presence of Nial Ring Lord Mayor of Dublin, on 30 January 2019 at 2pm, 90 minutes before they unveiled the large marble head of Kelly in South King Street. The marble head was commissioned by the City Council and the statue was offered as a donation by a private individual Gerry Hunt.

It was unveiled on the 30th of January 2019 by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring. |
