Description

Bronze sculpture of a woman with onions in her hands - commemorating the street traders on Cornmarket Street.
The original 'Onion Seller' was cast in bronze in 1937 by sculptor Séamus Murphy. It is a monument to the women dealers in the Coal Quay, Cork City Open Market. The same statue stands 250 m away in Bishop Lucey Park (here).
