Description

Bronze sculpture of the Roman poet Virgil guiding Dante through Hell and Purgatory (from the Divine Comedy), with on the base the motto of the Eötvös Loránd university.

  1. Dante Alighieri (Florence c. 1265 - Ravenna 1321), major Italian poet of the Middle Ages, partisan of Henry VII in the struggle between Guelphs and Ghibellines (Wikipedia)..
  2. Publius Vergilius Maro (70 - 19 BC), usually called Virgil or Vergil, ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period (Wikipedia).
