Annotation
In an archived e-mail message from 30 Septemer 1991 on the commemoration of the quincentennial in Haiti is written: "the lack of interest manifests itself in other ways: when
political activists overthrew a statue of Christopher Columbus
during an anti-imperialist demonstration in Port-au-Prince in 1987,
the municipal authorities salvaged the statue, but never
reinstalled it."
