Description

A pair of cast iron statues: a modern rugby player with some mill machinery behind his right leg and a mill girl in 19th-century dress with a sheep and wool scissors. Both look at each other.
The idea was to have a piece of art which would represent the heritage of Dewsbury and also its future, serving to mark the gateway to the town. They are unveiled on 1 February 2005 by Mike Stephenson, rugby league player and later Super League commentator.
