Description

Raisin sculpture commemorating East Cleveland's mining heritage. Portrayed are three miners, the one on the right is carrying a midge lamp and holding a Blackett-Hutton rotary, the one in the center is checking the roof with a long bar for any loose ironstone waiting to fall and the left one is loading a large chuck of ironstone. Behind him sit a rat!

It was unveiled on 6 April 2019 by children from Skelton Primary and Craig Hornby, maker of the 2004 documentary A Century in Stone about the discovery of ironstone (Wikipedia).
