Description

Marble 'pyramid' with on top a bronze angel of peace holding roses. This angel is a 1992 replacement made by Ian Judd - Fehr's original was an Angel of Victory, with a sword and wreath, and was damaged during a storm. See the Colchester (click here) and Eastbourne (click here) war memorials for the original angel.
The obelisk is flanked by two bronze figures, 'Peace releasing a dove' and 'Saint George and the Dragon'.

The monument was unveiled on 14 October 1922 by Viscount Lascelles.
