Description

Statue of William Wilberforce as a 15-year old student. He attended Pockington School 1771-1776. The school commissioned the statue to mark the bicentenary of the abolishing of the Slave Trade Act, in which Wilberforce played a major part.
The statue was unveiled by Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, on 22 September 2007.
