DAVID WHITFIELD (1926-1980) Hull born and bred, this 1950s singing star. Appeared in music halls nation wide. Won the first British Gold Disc with Cara Mia Was the first British male to top the U.S. charts. Often topped the bill at the London Palladium. Working alongside the worlds greatest stars. Sang twice at Royal Command Performances. Entertained troops in the Far East. Toured the U.S.A. nine times; Australia, thirteen. Died on his thirteenth Australian tour.
