Hull Fish TrailFish Pavement |
Gordon Young
1992 |
The Hull Fish Trail features mostly reliefs of fish made from traditional materials in the pavement. The artist Gordon Young created the trail of sculptures in 1992 - representing the actual size of fish with life size pieces, from a tiny anchovy to a 10ft ray. His sense of humour surfaces with the placing of a plaice in the market place, an electric eel outside the electricity sub station and a shark outside a bank... The trail starts at Hull City Hall and takes you around the marina, pier head and around the old town before returning to the start. The trail was laid out in 1992 and in July 2019 one of them was no longer present, and three (nos. 11-13) could not be seen because of reconstruction works.
The lead artist was Gordon Young; with assistance from Martin Bellwood, Russell Coleman, Ian Cooper and Brian Fell.
