Description

Over the main entrance of the former Yorkshire Penny Bank are four portraits of the bank's founders of 1859:
  1. Colonel Edward Akroyd (1810-1887), Halifax worsted manufacturer and founder of the Yorkshire Penny Bank (Wikipedia).
  2. Sir Henry Ripley, 1st Baronet (1813-1882), a prominent Bradford dye works proprietor (Wikipedia).
  3. Peter Bent, General Manager of the Bank from 1858.
  4. John Ward, Director of the Bank between 1873-1880.
