Annotation

The statue is situated by the bridge that was his first important success, built in the parish of his birth. An identical statue is in Barry Docks, Vale of Glamorgan. The Wrexham Advertiser published about these statues the following note on 9 May 1891:

It has been decided to commemorate the public services to Wales of the late Mr D. Davies, ex-M P. for Cardigan, by the erection of a bronze statue at Barry Dock, at a cost of 2,000 guineas, and a similar statue at Llandinam, his birthp;ace, at a coat of 1,000 guineas.

The Barry Dock Statue was unveiled 10 March 1893 by Lord Windsor, the Llandinam statue a little later.
