Annotation

From the information sign:
War memporial
Soon after the end of the First World War in 11th November 1918, Lampeter people talked of raising a memorial to the fallen. A committee was set up and the eminent Sculptor Sir William Goscombe John was approached to design the memorial. The Lloyd Brothers of The Bryn donated the land. Donations and a large Bazaar raised money for the project. Stone was donated from Rhydderchlwyd, Cellan, and the Ynysybwl Pennant Stone Company. The memorial was officially opened by Major J.C. Harford of Falcondale on Friday 14th of October 1921.
