The Roman Baths complex is a well-preserved Roman site once used for public bathing. There are four main features: the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman Bath House and the museum, holding finds from Roman Bath. The buildings above street level date from the 19th century.
On the balustrade around the Great Bath are statues of Roman governors of the province of Britannia and Roman emperors with particular connections to Britain.
The present statues are by George Anderson Lawson except for the one of Julius Caesar, which is a copy made by Laurence Tyndall in 1989.
