Cheltenham / Boer War Memorial   Cheltenham / Boer War Memorial

Bronze statue of a soldier at a military funeral standing at the 'resting on his arms reversed' position. "Great care has been taken that the figure shall be absolutely correct from a military point of view, and the general treatment is simple yet dignified. The pedestal was designed by the honorary architects of the committee, Messrs. Prothero and Phillott. It is Corinthian character, and has been carried out in Portland stone weighing about five tons. The design originally provided for two steps, but the plinth rests on one step only."
