Inscription(s)

in the north east corner of the
sermon house,
under a stone marked w.w.
lie the remains of the
revd WILLIAM WELFITT d.d.
forty seven years
prebendary of this cathedral
who departed this life, the 3rd day of
february in the year 1833,
aged 87 years.

thankful in life, hopeful in death,
through the merits and mediation of
christ jesus his blessed saviour.

"with long life hath he satisfied him,
and made all his bed in sickness"
thanks fo the almighty god,
in the power of the adorable
and incomprehensible trinity.

in the same grave
are deposited the remains of
ELIZABETH, the widow of
Dr WILLIAM WELFITT,
who died on the 28th day of january 1837,
aged 92 years, and 9 months.
