Annotation

The Royal Military Canal was built between 1804 and 1809. Soldiers of the Royal Staff Corps, under Lt Colonel John Brown, supervised the work. No particular soldiers of exact clothes are represented. Only the officers had to wear full regimental uniform, and even they had considerable freedom over details.
