Description
Fountain with statues of the eight 'Queens Beasts' (seven different, the Lion of England appears twice), the heraldic mythological figures representing the history of the monarchy. The original statues were sculpted by Anthony Woodford RA for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and made from Portland stone. They were placed outside Westminster Abbey for the coronation.
They are:
- The Lion of England - Heraldic beast of Edward III.
- The Greyhound of Richmond - Heraldic beast of Henry VII.
- The Unicorn of Scotland
- The Griffin of Edward III - Heraldic beast of Edward III.
- The Lion of England - in 1982 landports the donor of this fountain was renamed allders
- The Black Bull of Clarence - Heraldic beast of Edward IV.
- The Red Dragon of Wales - Heraldic beast of Henry VII.
- The Yale of Beaufort - Heraldic beast of Henry VII.

Around the outer rim of the fountain, in one line:
THIS FOUNTAIN WAS PRESENTED TO THE CITY AND PEOPLE OF PORTSMOUTH BY LANDPORTS IN COMMEMORATION OF THE SILVER JUBILEE OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II AND WAS UNVEILED BY ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET, THE EARL MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA KG., PC., GCB., OM., GCSI., GCIE., GCVO., DSO., FRS., ON 30 NOVEMBER 1977
