Description

The Lyceum, a Neoclassical building, was constructed in 1802 as a news-room and England's first subscription library (1758-1942) and later became a gentleman's club.
The facade facing Church Street has three relief panels of Greek characters, representing Geography, Apollo and Commerce (Lancaster Gazette, 31 July 1802.
