Description

Sphere surrounded by a keyboard, a guitar, a horn, and a stave. At the top of the sphere are two open hands from which five doves fly to the sky. The bird at the top has a white feather in its beak.

"The Peace Monument [Voiers] has created represents John Lennon in a few ways,” says Jerry Goldman, managing director of the Beatles Story. “The guitar and keyboard represent [Lennon's] desire for peace and love through his music. [Lennon's] message reached the whole world, represented by the globe. And most importantly, the white feather represents [Lennon's] spirit to his son Julian."

European Peace Monument
Global Peace Initiative
The Global Peace Initiative aims to spread a message of peace
through artistic expression. The Initiative is dedicated to placing a
monument to peace on each continent.

This is the monument for Europe where people can gather and
reflect on the idea and possibility of world peace.

This sculpture is by artist Lauren Voiers, entitled 'Peace and
Harmony', and was presented to the Beatles Story and the people
of Europe. It honours John Lennon, one of the world's biggest
advocates of peace.

The monument was unveiled by Julian and Cynthia Lennon on
9th October 2010 to celebrate John Lennon's 70th birthday.

White Feather Foundation
Julian Lennon- 'Dad once said to me that should he pass away,
if there was some way of letting me know he was going to be OK-
that we were all going to be OK- the message would come to me in
the form of a white feather.'

Julian Lennon views the white feather as a symbol of peace and has
created the White Feather Foundation.

The White Feather Foundation embraces environmental and
humanitarian issues and in conjunction with partners from around
the world helps to raise funds for the betterment of all life, and to
honour those who have truly made a difference.
