Description

The Theatre Royal in Manchester, England, opened in 1845. Above the central entrance is a niche containing a marble statue of William Shakespeare, which is based on the statue by Peter Scheemakers in Westminster Abbey (cf. the copies in Stratford-upon-Avon of 1769 and London of 1874).
