Description

Stone statue in a corner niche in the Church of Our Lady of Mercy and St. Godric of Finchale (as the 1864 name of the church was), built in 1863-64 by the architect E.H. Pugin. When it was opened in 1864, the west end with the tower was not completed, "until some future occasion, when sufficient funds have been raised" The tower was finally built in 1909.
