Above the porch is a gothic niche with an allogerical statue of Justice (or Truth), a blindfolded woman with a lamp. The doorway is flanked by two smaller allegorical statues:
Reason, calm and thoughtful, firmly grasping the sword of the intellect.
Passion, ensnared in vines of passion flowers, her hands held to her throat in a gesture of panic.
