Bronze sculpture group of three sportsmen in action: a cricketer, a footballer and a rugby player, on a triangular plinth.

West side:

leicestershire county cricket club – britannic assurance county champions 1996 and 1998
Northeast side:
sporting success by martin williams. this sculpture was paid for with contributions from leicester mercury readers and private
companies to celebrate the achievements of our soccer, rugby and cricket clubs – and to inspire future sporting success.
Southeast side:
sponsored by: diamond cable communications (uk) ltd next plc, kirby & west ltd, david samworth obe dl, high sheriff of leicestershire, leicester mercury
commissioned by the leicester mercury and leicester city council and unveiled by harold white and matthew baker on 16th november 1998

Annotation

The commission of the sculpture followed successful seasons by all three local teams in the 1996-97 seasons
