Scuplture group of a roman military family - man (which is gone) woman and child - set up high on timber plinths as symbolic guardians of the village centre.
The sculpture group It refers to Braintrees’ links to Roman times, such as the nearby London Road which dates from this period.
The sign was on the pole of the man, text copied from the photo on Braintee's Public Art Directory:
