Annotation

This monument marks the furthest point reached by the Germans on 2 September 1918. It was inaugurated on 15 July 1923 by the French president Raymond Poincaré.
Eugène Odent (Senlis 1855 - Chamant 1914), mayor of Senlis, and six others were taken hostage and were shot on 2 September 1918 in Chamant. Originally there ware two reliefs, the one on the SW side, 'L'incendie de la ville par les Allemands', was removed and later replaced with the Foch memorial.
