Description

The central bay of the front façade of the Church of Saint-Eloi includes seven statues:

    Above the main entrance:
  1. Saint Éloi / Saint Eligius
    (c. 588 - 560), Bishop of Noyon, worked for twenty years to convert the pagan population of Flanders to Christianity. Patron saint of goldsmiths, other metalworkers, veterinarians and horses and those who work with them (Wikipedia).
    In the left and righ jambes:
  2. Saint Jean le Baptiste / Saint John the Baptist
    (c. 6 BC- c. 36 AD), itinerant preacher and a major religious figure who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River. He baptized Jesus at "Bethany beyond the Jordan." (Wikipedia).

    On the buttresses to the left and right:

    Standing on the gallary below the gable:
  6. Angel with musical instrument.
  7. Singing angel?

Annotation

The façade of the church was built between 1887 and 1889 by the town architect Jules Lecocq.
