Description

Monument in the shape of a belltower with in front of it a stone statue of a woman with broken chains at her feet. On the pedestal of the statue is a bronze portrait medallion of Irénée Cros.

Annotation

Irénée Cros (Courniou, Hérault, 1887 - Foix 1943), resistance fighter, chief of the MUR Ariège, assassinated in Foix December 14, 1943. He was successively Director of Works of the city of Foix, Inspector of Technical Education, and Architect of the Département. He hHoused Allied officers and resistance fighters. His 'Nom de guerre' was 'Calmette'.
