Description

Equestrian statue, named La Bourgogne à Jeanne d'Arc (From Burgundy to Joan of Arc). Jeanne d'Arc, in armour with the standard in her right hand, on a rearing horse.

Annotation

Inaugurated 19 September 1909, the statue symbolizes the attachment of the French to Alsacce and Lorraine. Fifty years later, in 1959, the statue was turned and faces the Alsace.

Ballon d'Alsace

There are four four monuments on the Ballon d'Alsace, where three departments meet:
  1. Notre Dame du Ballon, in Haut-Rhin (almost on the border with Territoire de Belfort).
  2. Memorial for René Pottier, in Vosges
  3. Jeanne d'Arc, in Vosges (maybe 5 meters from the border with Territoire de Belfort).
  4. Monument en mémoire des démineurs, exactly on the border of Vosges and Territoire de Belfort
