The house near the church should be the house of Hue d'Arc, and the house where Jacques d'Arc was born.
The statue in a niche and the relief bust are on the façade already on postcards from about 1900.
The original statue comes from a chapel built in the late 16th century by Etienne Hordal at the location of the current basilica of Bois-Chenu in Domremy. It was inspired by a statue located at the Cathedral of Toul, itself inspired by a monument placed on a bridge in Orleans. During the Revolution, the statue narrowly escaped destruction by action of Francois-Joseph Henry, a notable person from Coussey. The statue had lost his its hand, right arm and both legs during the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) or during the Revolution. A copy of the statue was placed in 1839 above the entrance door of the house where Joan of Arc.
Replicas of the restored statue in different sizes are offered for sale by the Union Artistique de Vaucouleurs, model no. 88, 'Jeanne d'Arc, fac-simile de la statue conservée dans la maison de Jeanne.
